49ers GM dispels trade rumors about WRs reportedly being targeted by Pats

The trade rumors centered around San Francisco from Thursday night into Friday morning.

The number of a large receiver at No. 31 overall led media members and NFL insiders to invest concerning the way forward for two of the 49ers' current receivers, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.

On the second night of the NFL Draft on Friday, San Francisco general manager John Lynch spoke addressed the trade rumors surrounds the duo.

“We didn’t experience any of that today. We’re happy with our wide receiver group,” Lynch told reporters. “Actually more than happy. We are excited about it. And very happy to add Ricky [Pearsall] to make it stronger.”

In most reports overnight and into the morning, the Patriots were certainly one of the teams linked to trade inquiries concerning the receiver pair. These reports made sense since they’d high picks within the second and third rounds and were attempting to fill a big void at WR.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport's initial response to San Francisco's selection was that Aiyuk could possibly be moved, and the Patriots had reportedly inquired about him sooner or later within the offseason. Friday morning within the Boston Sports Journal Mike Giardi reported that Samuel was more prone to be traded than Aiyuk, and that New England showed renewed interest.

Ultimately, the 49ers didn't need to move any of their stars, and New England had their eye on Washington WR Ja'Lynn Polk anyway, choosing him at No. 34 overall.

The Patriots will proceed to construct their roster throughout the draft with two high fourth-round picks (103 and 110 overall).
