Free National Park Day takes place on Saturday April twentieth

Do you want nature?

At the beginning of the annual National Park Week, which is able to happen from April twentieth to twenty eighth in 2024, the Valet parking offers free entry to its parks and monuments on Saturday, April 20.

This can prevent $50 or much more, but here's what you have to know from someone who has used it up to now.

Appear at dawn. Seriously. I do know, I do know. Do not hurt me. But you then get there before the thundering hordes arrive. As you’ll have guessed, free tickets are a giant draw.

You don't have to log in or register. Just show up and go.

Here are the nine national parks in California: Channel Islands (the boat ride just isn’t free), Death Valley, Joshua Tree, Kings Canyon, Lassen, Pinnacles, Redwood, Sequoia, Yosemite. You may drive to Zion National Park in Utah – one in every of my favorites – in about eight hours.

Personally, I like to recommend Joshua Tree National Park, which is my favorite local spot. I even bought an apartment there. This is how I do it:

Set out before sunrise with snacks, sandwiches, water, swimwear, and a towel. Watch the pink sunrise over San Jacinto Mountain, a really beautiful sight. There isn’t any traffic at the moment, so it is best to reach the West Park entrance in about 90 minutes, depending on where you begin.

From the town of Joshua Tree, head straight to the Wonderland of Rocks area, where there are several interesting mountain climbing trails. This is my favorite a part of the park. Alternatively, you’ll be able to proceed to 29 Palms and visit the park headquarters, where there may be also a mountain climbing trail. We normally wander around until the crowds arrive around 11am. Then we head out, stopping on the town for an early lunch and making our solution to Desert Hot Springs where we purchase an inexpensive day pass for the pools on the Desert Hot Springs Hotel & Spa. Yes, it's very 70s and anything but fancy. But the new water feels great. You may treat yourself to a massage in the event you book it upfront.

Then you go home refreshed and with a firm head.

If you've never been to Yosemite, what the heck? Maybe April twentieth is your day. However, remember that there’ll still be snow up there. So dress warmly and pay attention to road closures.

Note that there are special national park events throughout the week. So check online to see what's available. And enjoy!
