Layoffs within the tech sector are rattling the Bay Area economy and resulting in lots of of latest job cuts

SUNNYVALE — A high-profile aerospace and defense company and a semiconductor company were amongst the most recent technology firms to chop jobs within the Bay Area, eliminating greater than 200 positions.

Lockheed Martin, Coherent and Hinge Health, a technology company that gives online physical therapy, have decided to chop jobs, based on official notices filed with the state Department of Employment Development.

— Lockheed Martin, a titan in aerospace and defense, is cutting 68 jobs in Sunnyvale and Palo Alto. The layoffs are scheduled to take effect on June tenth.

– Coherent, a semiconductor equipment maker, 61 layoffs in Santa Clara. These reductions are scheduled for June tenth.

– Hinge Health, a technology company that provides online physical therapy corresponding to joint and muscle care, 77 layoffs in San Francisco. The layoffs are scheduled to happen on June eleventh.

So far in April, tech corporations have announced plans to chop 949 jobs within the Bay Area, including 614 layoffs Apple announced for staff in Santa Clara.

Tech layoffs in April exceed the 352 job cuts within the Bay Area that tech corporations reported in March.

However, the present layoff total for April and the quantity reported for March are well below the workforce cuts that tech corporations announced in January and February.

In January, technology corporations announced their decision to chop 3,248 jobs within the Bay Area. In February, the tech industry announced plans to chop 2,182 jobs within the nine-county region.
