The body was recovered from the East Bay estuary and identified as one in all two murder victims in San Pablo

SAN PABLO — The body recovered from an East Bay estuary last fall is that of an elderly San Pablo woman who authorities imagine was killed by her son-in-law.

A DNA profile of the body matched that of 74-year-old Que Thi Tran, San Pablo police said Tuesday.

Tran's son-in-law, 41-year-old Phuc Hong Vo of San Pablo, was charged along with her murder in addition to the murder of his wife, 40-year-old Tho Ngoc Ly.

Ly's body was not recovered. According to police, authorities on Tuesday searched an estuary in town of Alameda, where Tran's body was found on September 30, 2023.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation and the location of victim Tho Ly’s remains is not confirmed,” police said.

Tran and Ly were reported missing on September thirteenth. In December, police called on the general public to assist find them. A press release on the time said the mother and daughter “reportedly traveled to the Southern California area following a family dispute.”

Their last confirmed sighting was on the Sutter Avenue home where Vo and each victims lived.

Vo later became a suspect after investigators saw him driving his wife's supposedly missing vehicle, which was later present in Oakland on Dec. 5, police said. He was arrested on February twenty ninth.
