US News and World Report's top 10 destinations in Alaska

It's not only university rankings. US News and World Report editors also ceaselessly review travel destinations and visit the attractive Alaskan landscape annually. The latest list of must-sees in Alaska includes 17 national parks, historic towns and spectacular sights.

“The Last Frontier's rugged beauty, fascinating wildlife and charming coastal towns…magnificent glaciers, rich Native American culture and breathtaking views of the Aurora Borealis” make Alaska a must-see for any adventurer, writes travel editor Alissa Grisler.

Your list includes Kenai Fjords National Park (No. 4), an icy wonderland fed by nearly 40 glaciers of the Harding Icefield. The gateway to the park, the port city of Seward, is ranked ninth. And the most important national park within the country, Wrangell St. Elias (No. 8) belongs on every bucket list. Its 13.2 million acres stretch from sea level to 18,000-foot mountains. It's such an enormous area, park rangers say, that it's larger than Yellowstone, Yosemite and Switzerland combined.

All 17 sights and details will be found at https://travel.usnews.com. In the meantime, here's only a sneak peek.
