Campbell police arrest 25-year-old for punching elderly man

Campbell Police arrested a 25-year-old suspect Saturday morning who allegedly randomly attacked two people this month.

According to Campbell police, the suspect was investigated for 2 counts of elder abuse and assault on a police officer for allegedly kicking an officer while in custody on the Santa Clara County Jail.

The first attack occurred on May 4, when the suspect allegedly punched a person within the stomach while he was walking along San Tomas Aquino Road. Police didn’t release the age or identity of the primary victim.

The most up-to-date incident occurred around 11:23 a.m. Friday near the corner of Inwood Drive and Elam Avenue.

“A 75-year-old man was randomly punched in the face while out for a walk,” CPD said in a news release. “When the victim and his family returned to the area to look for surveillance cameras, they again encountered the suspect, who attempted to fight the family before leaving.”

According to police, each attacks appear to have been random and unprovoked.

“We cannot thank our community enough for their cooperation in incidents such as these. We can assure you that our officers are working diligently to investigate these incidents to the fullest extent possible,” CPD said.
