Man shot dead in fifteenth murder in San Jose this 12 months

SAN JOSE – San Jose police are investigating town's fifteenth homicide of the 12 months, involving a person found dead of a gunshot wound in an apartment complex near a busy shopping mall.

The murder occurred around 2:45 p.m. Sunday in an apartment within the 1000 block of Blossom River Way, a street adjoining to the busy Westfield Oakridge shopping mall in south San Jose.

“When officers arrived, they found an adult male victim who was not conscious or breathing and had at least one gunshot wound,” San Jose police said in a prepared press release.

The police immediately initiated life-saving measures for the victim and concurrently called the emergency doctor to the apartment. However, the person died within the apartment, the police said.

The victim, described as an adult male, couldn’t be immediately identified.

“The suspect is unknown and fled the scene before police arrived,” police said. “The motive and circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation.”

The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office will release the person's name once he’s identified and his next of kin are notified.
