OAKLAND — Authorities on Tuesday released a sketch of an individual involved within the shooting of a person last August in Oakland.
The shooting happened shortly after midnight on August 30 in the five hundred block of East 18th Street. When officers arrived, they found two men, ages 20 and 18, affected by gunshot wounds.
The 20-year-old man, identified as Demani William, was pronounced dead on the scene.
The 18-year-old man was taken to hospital but survived.
In addition to releasing a sketch of an individual of interest, authorities said the suspect was driving a white Ford F-150.
Oakland police haven’t released a motive for the fatal shooting. In October, when the authorities for the primary time identified the victimPolice were investigating the likelihood that it was gang-related.
A loaded handgun with an prolonged magazine was present in the victim's vehicle, police said.
In the times following William's death, his Instagram page was flooded with condolences. There were also several comments from a report that mocked his violent death, including one which suggested he had first-hand knowledge of where he was shot.
