Tatum receives All-NBA honors, but Jaylen Brown isn't so lucky

For the third consecutive 12 months, Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum earned a spot on the All-NBA First Team.

But unlike last season, Tatum was not on the list of 15 All-NBA nominees this 12 months along along with his teammate Jaylen Brown.

The NBA announced the outcomes of the All-NBA voting on Wednesday. Tatum shares the All-NBA First Team honor with Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic. Tatum has now been chosen to the All-NBA team 4 times in his profession.

Brown was on the surface, a third-team selection that finished just 20 points behind Suns guard Devin Booker, securing the last spot in that group of 5.

Although Tatum's scoring dropped this season on a robust Celtics team (30.1 points per game in 2023 to 26.9 this season), he rounded out his overall game while becoming a more efficient scorer.

In addition to shooting 47.1 percent, Tatum also averaged 4.9 assists and eight.1 rebounds per game, a profession high. The 26-year-old forward is already eligible for a super-max extension this summer – which expected value as much as 315 million dollars over five years after being named to the All-NBA First Team last season.

Brown, who was named to the All-NBA Second Team last season, averaged 23.0 points. 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game this 12 months. The 27-year-old swingman signed a record-breaking super-max extension with Boston last season after earning All-NBA honors.

The All-NBA Second Team consisted of Jalen Brunson, Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards and Kawhi Leonard, while the All-NBA Third Team consisted of Booker, Steph Curry, Tyrese Haliburton, LeBron James and Domantas Sabonis.
