Tour of the 1,732 foot long tunnel on the Anderson Dam project

Workers are about 80% complete digging a brand new, 1,736-foot-long outlet tunnel at Anderson Dam near Morgan Hill. The work is an element of a $2.3 billion project to bring the dam, in-built 1950, that holds back Santa Clara County's largest reservoir to modern seismic standards. The Santa Clara Valley Water District, which is overseeing the project, says work to demolish the old dam and rebuild a brand new dam will begin in 2026, with completion scheduled for 2032.
