Anthropic Claude 3.5 Sonnet AI announced

OpenAI competitor Anthropic announced on Thursday its strongest artificial intelligence model thus far, Claude 3.5 Sonnet.

Claude is certainly one of the chatbots that, like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and GoogleGemini, has gained enormous popularity up to now 12 months. The news follows Anthropic's debut of the Claude 3 family of models in March and OpenAI's GPT-4o in May. The company said Claude 3.5 Sonnet is quicker than its previous top-of-the-line model, Claude 3 Opus, and is the primary model in Anthropic's recent Claude 3.5 family.

Claude 3.5 Sonnet is obtainable free of charge on the corporate's website, Claude.ai, and on the Claude iPhone app. Claude Pro and Team subscribers can access the newest model with higher rate limits.

“It shows significant improvements in capturing nuance, humor and complex instructions, and is exceptionally good at writing high-quality content in a natural, relatable tone,” the corporate said in a blog post. It also can write, edit and execute code.

Anthropic also announced “Artifacts,” which allows a user to ask its chatbot Claude to generate a text document or code, for instance, after which open the end in its own window. “This creates a dynamic workspace where they can see, edit and extend Claude's creations in real time,” the corporate said, adding that it expects Artifacts to be useful for code development, drafting and analyzing legal contracts, writing business reports and more.

While startups like Anthropic and OpenAI are gaining momentum within the generative AI business, they’re – alongside technology giants like Google, Amazon, Microsoft And Meta — were a part of an AI arms race to integrate the technology to make sure it could compete in a market that is predicted to exceed $1 trillion of sales inside a decade.

News of Anthropic's recent model follows the launch of the corporate's first-ever enterprise offering in May.

The plan for enterprises, called Team, has been developed over the past few quarters and has included beta testing with 30 to 50 customers across industries comparable to technology, financial services, legal services and healthcare, Anthropic co-founder Daniela Amodei said in an interview with CNBC last month. The idea for the service was born partially because lots of those customers were asking for a dedicated enterprise product, Amodei added.

“We have heard from many large companies that people are already using Claude in the office,” Amodei said on the time.

Last month, shortly after Anthropic unveiled its recent product, Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger joined the corporate as chief product officer. Krieger, the previous chief technology officer of Meta-owned Instagram, grew the platform to 1 billion users and grew the event team to over 450 people during his time there, based on a press release. OpenAI's former head of security Jan Leike also joined the corporate in May.
