Man convicted of attacking two cops in San Leandro in 2017

An Alameda County jury also found Terry Gordon guilty of causing serious bodily harm to cops, San Leandro police said in a press release Thursday.

Sentencing for Gordon is scheduled for next month, police said.

The incident occurred on September 17, 2017, when officers attempted to stop Gordon on suspicion of shoplifting on the Greenway Marketplace Safeway, 699 Lewelling Blvd.

The officers wrestled with Gordon beside and in his parked automotive. Gordon managed to start out his automotive and drive away, hitting each officers and running one over.

The officer who was run over suffered broken bones in his left arm and hand in addition to “severe nerve damage,” police said. After three operations and 18 months of recovery and physical therapy, the officer was in a position to return to full duty.

The other officer was treated at a close-by hospital and released the identical day.

On 18 September 2017 Detectives arrested Gordon in Oakland after a brief chase.

“I would like to thank the jury for their time and dedication in closing this horrific case and taking a dangerous person off our streets,” Police Chief Angela Averiett said in a press release.
