Man killed, woman injured in Oakland shooting

OAKLAND – A 26-year-old man was fatally shot and a 28-year-old woman was injured. The shootings occurred about 20 minutes apart in numerous parts of the town Saturday night, authorities said.

Authorities say there isn’t a connection between the shootings.

The fatal shooting occurred around 7:07 p.m. Saturday outdoors within the 8000 block of Edes Avenue, not removed from the Oakland Coliseum.

The 26-year-old man, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, got into an argument with one other man who shot him before fleeing, authorities said.

The victim, who lived in the realm, was taken to a hospital where he died a number of hours later, authorities said.

Police haven’t released any details in regards to the dispute. No arrests have been made and no information in regards to the suspect has been released.

The killing is the forty seventh murder case investigated by Oakland police this yr. At this time last yr, police had investigated 53 murder cases in the town.

The woman was found shot to death around 6:51 p.m. after her vehicle crashed near the intersection of High Street and Redding Street, south of Interstate 580 and east of the Laurel neighborhood.
