Nia Long, Fran Drescher and Busta Rhymes are inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2025 – The Mercury News

NEW YORK — Three of New York’s finest are among the many 2025 graduates on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Brooklyn natives Nia Long and Busta Rhymes and Fran Drescher of Flushing, Queens, were announced Monday as the most recent inductees to the famous Hollywood honor. More than 30 other stars – including Prince, Jane Fonda and Misty Copeland – will likely be inducted into the Walk of Fame within the categories of motion pictures, television, live theater/live performance, radio, recorded music and sports entertainment.

music producer Jimmy Jam Actors Joe Mantegna and Niecy Nash and Steve Nissen, president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, made the announcement. The past honorees make up the Walk of Fame selection committee, which was chosen from tons of of nominees on June 14.

Long, known for movies comparable to “All the best, Jones”, “Soul Food” and the “Best Man” series are among the many winners within the film category – including John Carpenter, Jessica Chastain, Bill Duke, Robert Englund, Emilio Estevez, Colin Farrell, Lisa Lu, Glynn Turman, Toni Vaz and Fonda.

“When I was a little girl, my mom always told me that one day I would have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” the “Alfie” star shared on social media. “I never really believed it was possible. Life was hard back then. Today is a dream come true for both of us. I am so grateful to be part of this amazing group of artists. Thank you Jesus!!! Thank you to everyone who continues to support my art.”

Drescher, from Fame from “The Nanny”also serves as President of SAG-AFTRA Union. The 66-year-old is on the TV side, alongside Lauren Graham, Bill Nye, Molly Shannon, Courtney B. Vance, Chris Wallace, Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Sherri Schaefer.

Shepherd, who moved to Harlem via Chicago, broadcasts her eponymous talk show live in the course of the day from Chelsea Studios in Manhattan.

East Flatbush, Brooklyn, native Busta Rhymes (born Trevor George Smith Jr.) joins Fantasia, Depeche Mode, Los Bukis, the B-52s, Green Day, the Isley Brothers, George Strait, Keith Urban, War and Prince within the Recordings category.

Groundbreaking ballerina Copeland and actor Alan Cumming receive stars for live theater/performance, while David Beckham and Orel Hershiser are the honorees in sports entertainment.

Former “Love Line” presenter was in-demand podcaster Adam Carolla is the one radio star of this 12 months.

The dates for the 2025 Star Ceremonies haven’t yet been set; they are frequently announced 10 days before the event.
