SAN MATEO – Police have identified a Central Valley woman because the suspect in a shooting reported Thursday near East Hillsdale Boulevard and released additional details about her arrest.
The shooting was reported around 4:45 p.m. Thursday near East Hillsdale Boulevard and South Norfolk Street. Officers who responded to the incident determined from witness statements that the incident occurred a couple of block east on Lagos Street.
When police arrived, neither the victim nor the suspect were on the scene, but in keeping with a San Mateo Police Department press release, officers discovered drops of blood and a cellular phone left on a sidewalk, in addition to bullet casings nearby.
Shortly thereafter, officials were informed that the shooter had run into a close-by residence and that a gunshot victim had also appeared in San Carlos and been taken to a hospital.
Officers surrounded the Lagos Street residence and called in police negotiators who spoke with the suspect, a 34-year-old woman from the Central Valley town of Ceres, south of Modesto.
The woman later turned herself in to police, and a search of the apartment she was in yielded a weapon that investigators imagine was utilized in the sooner shooting. She was booked into the San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle.
