Vegetation fire destroys 255 acres in Brentwood, Antioch

According to Cal Fire, the Empire Fire began around 3:20 p.m. near the intersection of Empire Mine Road and Deer Valley Road in an unincorporated area of ​​Brentwood.

The fire initially destroyed an area of ​​20 hectares and spread to 40 hectares inside an hour before emergency services managed to stop it from spreading further, the agency said in a social media post.

In a Social media post Shortly after 7 p.m., Cal Fire announced that the hearth was 75% contained. Firefighters are continuing to construct and maintain firefighting lines, the agency said.

The reason for the hearth is currently being investigated.

The Brentwood fire joins an inventory of other fires burning in California. In Modoc County, the Clear Fire has burned 700 acres of land as of Wednesday afternoon and is 10% contained, in keeping with Cal Fire. The Basin Fire in Fresno County has burned 250 acres of land and continues to be not contained as of Wednesday evening.
