Victim of Lake Berryessa brawl named; police arrest suspect

The man who was at a Brawl at Lake Berryessa on Saturday night was identified as 39-year-old Andrew Fabian Sandoval Garcia of Vallejo.

The large brawl broke out around 5:30 p.m. Saturday night within the Oak Shores day-use area, the Napa County Sheriff's Office said. The area is thought for beach activities, swimming and shore fishing.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Henry Wofford said three other people were injured by stabbing and punching attacks and were treated on the hospital, and two people were flown to the hospital by helicopter in serious condition.

One was released on Sunday, but the opposite remained within the hospital, Wofford said.

The explanation for the incident remains to be under investigation, but Wofford said Saturday's brawl “involved at least two different groups of people fighting each other at the same time.”

The Napa Sheriff's Detective Bureau is leading the investigation with assistance from the Napa County Major Crimes Task Force, which incorporates the Napa Police Department and the Napa County District Attorney's Office.

Anyone with information in regards to the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 707-253-4505.
