Disneyland is pushing the beginning of Halloween past Labor Day weekend and well into August this 12 months because the spooky season continues to challenge Christmas for the title of hottest holiday at Anaheim's theme parks.
Halloween time will launch no sooner than 2024, when the seasonal event begins on August 23 and runs through October 31 at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
That's a full week before the beginning of Halloween 2023 and the primary time the seasonal event will begin in August on the Disneyland Resort.
But that's nothing in comparison with Walt Disney World, where Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party begins August 9 this 12 months.
Disneyland and DCA will even return to seasonal decorations in 2024, with an enormous Mickey Mouse jack-o-lantern on Main Street USA, a Headless Horseman statue on Buena Vista Street, and a “Radiator Screams”-style redesign of Cars Land.
Haunted Mansion returns to Disneyland in time for Halloween season
Enjoy the return of holiday overlays for the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout, Mater's Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters at Disney California Adventure.
The DCA event at Plaza de la Familia in Paradise Gardens celebrating the Mexican tradition of Dia de los Muertos with music from “Coco” runs a number of more days until November 2nd.
The extremely popular separate entrance Oogie Boogie Bash The after-hours event will happen on 27 select evenings from August 25 to October 31 at Disney California Adventure.
Halloween Time began on September 1, 2023 – the earliest start date for the event thus far. The annual start of Halloween Time has been pushed forward over the past twenty years – to September 7, 2018, September 14, 2012 and September 26, 2008.
The first Halloween event at Disneyland took place on October 31, 1959, when the park hosted a pumpkin carving contest and a pumpkin parade along Main Street USA, based on the Disney Archives.
Decades passed until Disneyland leaned heavily on the Halloween season with the primary Mickey's Halloween Treat events in 1995 and 1996.
After one other ten-year hiatus, Mickey's Halloween Party and variations of the event took place at Disney California Adventure and Disneyland from 2005 to 2018.
The real excitement began in 2019 with the launch of Oogie Boogie Bash at DCA. The annual after-hours party has grown in popularity yearly since then—the 2023 Halloween event sold out inside 12 hours. Tickets are still available for a number of nights of Oogie Boogie Bash 2024 – but they won’t last long.
