Elon Musk: SpaceX will move its headquarters from California to Texas

Elon Musk, CEO and owner of SpaceX, said Tuesday he’ll move the headquarters of each corporations from California to Texas.

Musk said he was taking the steps in response to Governor Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) signing a brand new law that prohibits California school districts from requiring parents to tell them of a baby's change in gender identity. Newsom signed the law into law for transgender students on Monday.

“This is the last straw. Because of this law and many other laws before it that attacked both families and businesses, SpaceX will now be moving its headquarters from Hawthorne, California to Starbase, Texas,” Musk posted on X. He later added that the X headquarters would even be moving from San Francisco to Austin.

“I made it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws like this would force families and businesses to leave California to protect their children,” he added.

In 2022 People magazine reported Elon MuskThe then 18-year-old daughter was given permission to officially change her name and gender to Vivian Jenna Wilson. She dropped the family name Musk and as an alternative took her mother's maiden name, Justine Wilson.

When Musk was asked about his estranged transgender daughter in October 2022, he told Financial Times “You can’t always have it good” and claimed to have relationship with all his other children.

Musk also told the Financial Times that his daughter's decision was brought on by “neo-Marxists” in educational institutions.

Musk recently endorsed former President Donald Trump and reportedly plans to donate $45 million every month to a pro-Trump super PAC called “America PAC.”

Trump is predicted to curtail transgender rights if he’s re-elected president this yr.

The 19. News reported, citing a February 2023 Trump campaign video, that his proposals would “end Medicare and Medicaid funding for hospitals that provide gender-affirming treatment to transgender youth, seek to charge teachers with sex discrimination for affirming students' gender identities, and direct federal agencies to shut down all programs that promote the concept of gender and sex reassignment at any age.”

The American Academy of Pediatrics and other major medical organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the World Health Organization, all support “transgender youth’s access to the health care they need.”

On Tuesday, Newsom fired back at Musk in a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “You bent the knee,” and included a screenshot of a 2022 post on Truth Social through which Trump had berated Musk.

In the 2022 post, Trump had written: “When Elon Musk came to the White House and asked me for help with all of his many subsidized projects, be it electric cars that don't run long enough, self-driving cars that crash, or rocket ships to nowhere without which he would be worthless, and told me he was a huge Trump fan and a Republican, I could have said, 'Fall on your knees and beg,' and he would have done it.”

In 2021, Musk, who can be CEO of Teslamoved the headquarters of his automotive manufacturer from Palo Alto, California, to Austin.

SpaceX didn’t immediately reply to requests for further information, including whether the corporate might stop operations in Hawthorne.

When Tesla moved its headquarters to Texas, it kept its Palo Alto office as its “engineering headquarters.” Tesla even expanded at that location and held a press conference with Newsom there in February 2023.
