While the Major League Red Sox placed on a show at Fenway Park on Saturday, three of the organization's best minor league players showcased their talent in Texas.
Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer and Kyle Teel, currently ranked No. 14, No. 7 and No. 24 amongst young players on MLB.com, participated within the league's Futures Games festivities. Anthony participated within the Futures Game Skills Showcase, while Mayer and Teel participated within the Futures All-Star Game.
Both events took place at Globe Life Field, the Texas Rangers baseball stadium in Arlington.
The first skills showcase of its kind, the broadcast on television on Sunday, It featured eight players whose ultimate goal was to attain essentially the most points by controlling the shot as best as possible. Each batsman went through eight rounds of specific batting competitions, which generally involved hitting the ball to a particular spot on the sector.

Anthony, a 20-year-old outfielder, won the Skills Showcase with a rating of 66. He hit six home runs in eight hits through the Home Run Derby portion of the challenge. in accordance with Alex Speier. The current Double-A player for the Portland Sea Dogs wore a pair of Wally the Green Monster cleats on the event.
After the Skills Showcase, Anthony proudly donned his Sea Dogs cap while talking to reporters at the rostrum.
“It’s great to represent the minor league team,” he said (h/t Speier).
Anthony was chosen 79th overall by Boston within the 2022 MLB Draft.
At the annual Futures All-Star Game, 22-year-old Kyle Teel was the one player from either team (American or National League) to record multiple hits. The Portland catcher hit two doubles in two at-bats. His first hit flew over the middle fielder's glove.

The Red Sox recruited Teel because the No. 14 select of Virginia in last yr's draft.
In Mayer's case, the Sea Dogs shortstop finished the day 0-for-2, but hit a 104-mph groundout in his second at-bat.
Similar to his teammates Anthony and Teel, Mayer, the No. 4 overall pick in 2021, has a probability to maneuver as much as Triple-A Worcester before the top of this season.
