San Francisco’s Presidio continues to evolve right into a true culinary destination with the announcement of a brand new everlasting dining facility on July 16, the canteen.
The food court is scheduled to open in summer 2025 at 201 Halleck St. contained in the former military base that’s now a national park. The address is within the Tunnel Tops, a public green space that opened in 2022. The Mess Hall will feature a retail marketplace for grab-and-go picnic supplies — the park has beautiful rolling hills and meadows with views of the Golden Gate Bridge — in addition to several restaurants and a full bar.
The food sector of the project is led by Peter Serpicowho cut his teeth at David Chang's Momofuku Noodle Shop and Momofuku Ssam in New York. Serpico is a James Beard Award winner and worked as Director of Culinary Operations at a two-Michelin-starred restaurant during his time at Chang.
The Mess Hall will join the Presidio's wealthy array of dining options, including a big rotating food truck camp within the Tunnel Tops and restaurants similar to Mexican Cantina Colibri, pizza bar Il Parco and Michelin-starred Mediterranean restaurant Dali.
