Pax Jolie-Pitt, the second son of Angelina and Brad Pitt, was hospitalized with a head injury on Monday after his habit of not wearing a helmet while riding his electric bike could have made his situation worse when he crashed his bike right into a stationary automotive parked on a busy Los Angeles street.
TMZ first reported that the 20-year-old was riding his BMX bike on busy Los Feliz Boulevard during rush hour on Monday around 5 p.m. As Jolie-Pitt approached a red light, he crashed into the back of a automotive stopped at an intersection, police sources told TMZ.
The driver of the automotive got out to examine on the celebrity son – who was not wearing a helmet on the time of the accident, TMZ reported. Witnesses told TMZ that Jolie-Pitt complained of hip pain and appeared to have suffered a head injury, so he was taken to a close-by hospital for treatment.
Angelina reportedly rushed to the hospital to be by her son's side. Page Six reported on Tuesdayy. His condition was also reported to be stable.
Now it stays to be seen whether Jolie-Pitt will start wearing a helmet when riding her e-bike, especially in busy Los Angeles. TMZ reported that Jolie-Pitt was recently spotted riding her bike around town, almost all the time and not using a helmet.
Page Six quoted a source as saying the 20-year-old had been involved in “multiple” accidents on his bike before Monday's crash. The source also said he almost never wears a helmet.
“His friends are worried about him,” says an insider. “He's acting recklessly. They're worried.”
TMZ said California's helmet laws vary by bike class with regards to helmet requirements, so it's unclear if Jolie-Pax needed a helmet for this particular bike. However, it seems obvious that a helmet would have been useful for Jolie-Pitt on Monday night, TMZ added.
Perhaps his famous mother will give him a stern warning or urge him to wear a helmet. He and his mother are apparently very close and were spotted having fun with a mother-son dinner on July 12. The photo was taken on the option to celebrity hotspot Sushi Park in West Hollywood, People reported.
However, it’s unlikely that Jolie-Pitt will receive any reprimand or advice from Pitt, as he and his Oscar-winning father are reportedly estranged.
Of Jolie and Pitt's six children, the “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” star has “virtually no contact” together with his three older children Pax, Maddox, 22, and Zahara, 19. Jolie and Pitt even have a daughter together, Shiloh (18), and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
Shiloh was recently within the news for filing a legal motion to officially drop Pitt's last name from her own, so she would henceforth be called Shiloh Jolie as an alternative of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt. It's not clear if she can also be estranged from the actor, but her decision to drop his last name has “upset” him because he “never felt more joy than when she was born,” a source told People magazine last month. Another source told In Touch Weekly that Pitt, who once had an in depth relationship with Shiloh, was “blindsided” and “heartbroken” by her decision to drop his last name.
Pitt's estrangement from his children, including Pax, reportedly arose after Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016. The former Hollywood supercouple quickly became embroiled in a bitter, years-long legal battle over custody and their vineyard and chateau within the South of France. Since 4 of the youngsters have reached maturity, the custody battle has develop into moot, however the legal battle over the vineyard continues.
Much of the bitterness stems from Jolie's allegations that Pitt was drunk and verbally and physically abusive to Jolie and several other of her children during a non-public flight from Europe to Los Angeles in September 2016. Pitt has long denied the allegations. Pitt's alleged behavior through the flight prompted Jolie to file for divorce.
