SF Giants win series against Braves after fireworks on July 4th

The San Francisco Giants enjoyed their very own fireworks display on July 4th.

Heliot Ramos and Matt Chapman provided the momentum and even a little bit sparkle behind Logan Webb on the solution to a boisterous 4-2 Independence Day celebration on a muggy night in Atlanta.

With seven two-run innings from Webb and two home runs within the fourth inning from Ramos and Chapman, the Giants secured their third consecutive series win and took two of three games from the National League-leading wild-card Braves.

LaMonte Wade Jr. was held hitless in his first outing for the second straight night, this time by 17-year veteran Charlie Morton. He got the Giants' offense going with a single to open the third inning and was quickly brought home by Ramos, who took the second pitch of his at-bat and hit it 424 feet to center field.

The two-run shot tied the sport at 2-2 after the Braves took an early lead against Webb, and likewise gave Ramos the team lead along with his twelfth hit since being called up within the second week of May. Two batters later, Chapman evened the scoreboard and broke the tie on the scoreboard with a line-drive solo shot, his twelfth of the 12 months, to present the Giants their first lead at 3-2.

The throw from Chapman to Bailey was measured at 94 mph, the third baseman's hardest throw of the season, and it was the sixth runner the Giants have thrown out of the sport at home plate since June 17, two greater than every other team in the key leagues.

Although he didn’t get a success while being called twice by home plate umpire Sean Barber, Bailey was once more capable of do priceless work in other areas, putting himself in position to use the tag while stopping Olson's arm from touching the plate, and within the second inning he threw a dime to shortstop Nick Ahmed that put the speedy Forrest Wall, who was attempting to steal second base, out with a tag.

With seven innings through which he allowed two runs on seven hits, six strikeouts and one walk, Webb reclaimed the key league lead and raised his total to 119⅓ in 19 starts. It was the eleventh time he went seven innings, which was also probably the most in the key leagues, while lowering his ERA to three.09, ninth within the National League.

Manager Bob Melvin told reporters in Atlanta that Webb would make just another start before the All-Star break, likely on Wednesday, which should put the 27-year-old right-hander on the trail to his first profession selection. He began within the Giants' final game before the break last 12 months and was omitted in favor of teammates Alex Cobb and Camilo Doval.

Next: The Giants are expected to reach in Cleveland late tonight and might sit up for adding more reinforcements to their rotation as they start the second leg of their road trip against the American League's best Guardians. LHP Kyle Harrison (ankle) will likely be activated from the injured list on Saturday to begin within the second game of the series.
