The Republicans’ attacks on Kamala Harris were bad – they’re getting worse

Public Opinion polls suggest that US Vice President Kamala Harris is doing barely higher than Joe Biden against Donald Trump, but Republican attacks against them are only now really increasing.

Even as a candidate for Vice President, Harris was the goal of a fierce barrage of conservative attacks, which claimed, amongst other things, that she has slept her way into political prominencea typical slur against women in positions of power. The anti-Harris rhetoric is an element of what a report by the Wilson Center, a nonpartisan think tank, describes as a broad pattern of Gender-specific and sexualized attacks about distinguished women in public discourse.

More recently, these comments have been joined by conservative attacks branding Harris a “border czar,” a part of an try to link her to immigration, a Hot topic for conservatives.

The violent attacks The allegations thus far are only a fraction of what’s to come back. Trump is adept at each character assassination and political self-defense. Taken together, they add as much as a unprecedented ability to defeat his political rivals once they enter the presidential race.

But Harris also has sharp rhetorical skills that might make the election campaign bitter.

Trump's alternative facts

As I discuss in my book “Communication and character of the President“Trump is extremely qualified to Anger of the white working class into political support for himself and to persuade his supporters to disregard the previous president's well-documented skilled and private failings.

Trump's character generates lasting contempt amongst liberals, but these voters will support the Democratic candidate.

In 2016 Trump defeated The Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. He also defeated several well-known Republican presidential candidates, including senators, in the first. Marco Rubio from Florida and Ted Cruz of Texas and former governors Jeb Bush from Florida, John Kasich of Ohio and Scott Walker of Wisconsin.

In early 2024, Trump easily defeated one other round of extremely experienced Republicans, most notably the governor of Florida. Ron DeSantis and former governor of South Carolina. Nikki Haley.

Like his other opponents, President Biden has long endured Trump's personal attacks. But in 2020, Trump's original nickname, “Sleepy Joe,” was not as effective as his insults against other politicians, and Biden's election was Trump's only electoral defeat.

As the 2024 election approached, Trump and conservative voices once more demonstrated their immense influence in shaping political narratives, convincing many citizens this yr to support Trump for his Mismanagement of the COVID-19 pandemicignore that he drafted a majority within the Supreme Court upset Roe v. Wade and agree with him that the Election 2020 was stolen.

Even more impressive evidence of Trump’s political marketing skills are polls that show that many citizens are following Trump’s lead and Condemn Biden for the actually quite good economic situation within the USA.

Unemployment is low. Employment growth is booming. Infrastructure projects are underway. Inflation is much lower now than in the beginning of Biden’s term, and individual retirement accounts have loads of money due to big profits on the stock market.

Given Trump’s mastery of public relations – and the good susceptibility of many citizens to his false narratives – one may wonder how the Biden campaign was capable of endure the never-ending rhetorical onslaught and win the competition as close as polls show that this remained the case until recently.

During a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on July 20, 2024, Trump attacked each Biden and Harrisrepeatedly called Biden “stupid” and insulted his IQ. But Harris, Trump said, was “crazy.”

“I call her the laughing Kamala,” Trump told the gang. “You can tell a lot by a laugh. She's crazy. She's crazy.”

Given the political developments, Biden's withdrawal from the election campaign suggests that Trump is now getting a taste of his own medicine.

Harris' previous profession Her role as a U.S. Senator in difficult Trump administration officials and the previous president's judicial nominees shows that she is some of the effective Democratic officials at holding Republicans accountable.

Your profession as Attorney General and Public Prosecutor also allows her to make use of law and order themes to fight back against the primary convicted former president of America.

Biden's departure could offer one other big opportunity for Harris to restart the character assassination narrative, because the deal with age can now backfire against Republicans. Trump now holds the record because the oldest presidential candidate of a serious party, and a key issue that he used it against Biden is more likely to turn to the previous president again.

For voters, the election campaign guarantees to be a devastating era.
