The Trump campaign and the Republican National Convention on Saturday jointly announced the list of speakers for the nominating convention, which begins on Monday. The speakers include celebrities, major donors, dozens of Capitol lawmakers and nine politicians who’re being discussed as possible candidates for the vice presidency.
Trump's current frontrunners for vice chairman – Senators JD Vance (R) of Ohio, Marco Rubio (R) of Florida and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum – are expected to talk, together with six vice presidential candidates given lower odds, including South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and former Republican presidential candidates Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy.
In the week before the RNC, Trump has repeatedly indicated that VP selection announcement and tried to capitalize on the strain, including in a campaign memo on Saturday.
The RNC list also includes several major Trump donors, including enterprise capitalist David Sacks and investors Steve and Zach Witkoff.
They are joined by quite a few Republican Senate candidates and representatives, including Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson of Louisiana.
Conservative television personalities Tucker Carlson and Savannah Chrisley in addition to rapper Amber Rose are also scheduled to talk.
In total, greater than 80 speakers will campaign for Trump on the RNC before the convention ends together with his official nomination because the Republican presidential candidate.
It is striking that former First Lady Melania Trump and Trump's daughter and former White House adviser Ivanka Trump are missing from the RNC's list of speakers.
Melania has been conspicuously absent from Trump's election campaign up to now, drawing ridicule from President Joe Biden.
Other members of Trump's family, from son Eric Trump to his daughter-in-law Lara Trump, who can be co-chair of the RNC, are scheduled to present speeches.
The convention in Milwaukee runs Monday through Thursday and is predicted to feature much more passionate Trump fanfare than in previous years due to the former president's hold on the Republican Party in 2024. The RNC's energy is also bolstered by the post-pandemic excitement generated by gathering in person after the virtual event in 2020.
Despite the Trump hype, the convention also presents a selected challenge for the previous president, who has been facing multiple charges. Trump is prohibited from chatting with witnesses and alleged co-conspirators related to those legal cases, a lot of whom will likely be present in Milwaukee.
