When you're in Rome…or Chicago, for that matter.
While high-ranking politicians flocked to the Windy City for the Democratic Party Convention this week, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker declared Malört “unofficial shot” of the DNC. You know, Chicago's iconic vermouth-based digestif, which Food & Wine describes as each “citrus-flavored gasoline” and “the regional joke drink.”
“It’s not a drink for most people, but we are not most people,” said the Jeppson's Vermouth Information concerning the website.
“I’m not saying it’s the best tasting liquor,” Pritzker admitted in a segment with former White House press secretary Jen Psaki. “All I'm saying is, if you want to prove your courage, you have to give Malört a chance.”
Campaign reporter Dylan Wells rounded up a number of other governors as examples to check Pritzker’s theory. Of course, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey – who rarely shies away from physically Challenge — was a game.
“I’ve heard a lot about this Malört,” Healey said calmly and composedly into the camera, even after taking an enormous sip.
“I like it,” she added, somewhat incredulously. “I've heard all these things about it that weren't so great. I like it.”
