Popular beach party “Crow's Nest” in Santa Cruz canceled, shooting mentioned

SANTA CRUZ – Authorities have canceled the rest of this summer's popular beach music and barbecue series after a shooting last week left two people injured.

At least three more parties were scheduled for the weekly beach barbecue this summer, with festivities on the beach lasting from 5:30 p.m. until sunset. Afterward, attendees were invited to the Crow's Nest restaurant for more entertainment. According to the news release, county officials plan to work with the Crow's Nest restaurant to explore the long run of the long-running event series.

“We extend our sincere condolences to those affected by this incident and thank them for their continued understanding and support,” MacLaurie wrote.
