Sha'Carri Richardson, Simone Biles and Katie Ledecky aim for gold

PARIS (AP) — Simon Biles will again be certainly one of the highlights of the Olympic Games 2024 on Saturday when she tries to win the vault competition for her third gold medal in Paris.

Sha’Carri Richardson will aim for her first Olympic medal in the ladies's 100-meter race while within the pool Katie Ledecky will look so as to add one other gold medal to her collection in the ladies’s 800-meter freestyle.

Tokyo gold medalist Elaine Thompson-Herah will miss the Paris Games as a result of injury, while her Jamaican teammate Shericka Jackson announced she is going to not participate within the event.

Katie Ledecky goals for an additional gold medal

With her victory in the ladies's 800-meter freestyle, Ledecky would join fellow American Michael Phelps because the only swimmers – no matter gender and country – to win 4 gold medals in the identical event.

Boxing controversy

Anna Luca Hamori from Hungary Plans to fight within the quarter-finals against Imane Khelif Algeria's women's boxing championship, although the Hungarian Boxing Federation announced that it will send letters of protest to each the International Olympic Committee and the Hungarian Olympic Committee.

Khelief and Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting were disqualified from the 2023 World Championships after already competing. The IBA ruled that Khelif and Lin had failed unspecified gender suitability tests, but provided no evidence. Both fighters had competed in IBA events for several years.

Khelif’s first opponent in Paris, Angela Carini from Italystopped the fight after 46 seconds. Her tearful response to the fight being stopped made international headlines and Carini received a visit from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

US women's soccer within the quarterfinals

In the quarterfinals of the ladies's soccer championship, the USA will face Japan.

The Americans won all three group stage games for the primary time since 2012 to complete top of Group B. Japan, the silver medalists on the 2012 Olympics, won Group C. The USA took gold in 2012.

In the opposite women's quarterfinals, France will face Brazil, Spain will play Colombia and Canada will face Germany. Canada advanced from the group game, although six points deducted within the table for a drone scandal that has rocked this system.

US basketball men on the court

The United States men's national basketball team is aiming for its third consecutive victory in its game against winless Puerto Rico.

It might be the last group game for the USA, who’re aiming for top spot before the knockout rounds.

Women's tennis final

Either China or Croatia might be their first Single Gold Medal in Olympic tennis with Zheng Qinwen play Donna Vekic in the ladies's final.

This can be the largest title for each players, as neither Zheng nor Vekic have ever won a Grand Slam.
