The Celtics will reportedly host a longtime rival once they kick off the 2024–25 NBA season with a long-awaited banner and ring ceremony.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Boston will welcome the Knicks to TD Garden on October 22 for the primary game of the 2024-25 season – and the reigning champion Celtics are expected to carry Banner 18 that night.

Charania also provided details on several other key dates for the Celtics: Boston is scheduled to host Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers on Christmas Day.

Additionally, Charania reported that the Celtics will play their expected rematches against the Dallas Mavericks on January 25 in Dallas and February 6 in Boston. The Celtics defeated the Mavericks in five games throughout the 2024 NBA Finals en path to their coveted championship title.

This is the second consecutive season that Boston has opened a brand new NBA season against the Knicks. The Celtics defeated New York 108-104 on October 25, 2023 at Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks are considered to be Boston's biggest threat within the Eastern Conference, as New York's already strong squad, which incorporates Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby and Julius Randle, was further strengthened within the offseason by the transfer of star wing Mikal Bridges.

Still, the Celtics won 4 of their five games against the Knicks last season and ought to be motivated after finally raising a brand new banner on October twenty second.

The full schedule for the 2024–25 season might be released by the NBA later this month.
