Woman run over and killed in San Jose; suspect turns himself in

At around 4:20 a.m., officers were called to the 400 block of North thirty third Street for a report of an individual lying on the street, San Jose police Officer Tanya Hernandez said in a news release, adding that once they arrived they found a lady who was “unresponsive and bleeding.”

The woman was taken to a close-by hospital where she was pronounced dead, in response to Hernandez.

The investigation revealed that the lady had been hit by a automobile, Hernandez said.

According to Hernandez, a suspect turned himself in to the police station just a few hours later.

“They will be identified at a later date,” Hernandez said.

The motive and circumstances of the murder are currently being investigated.

The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office will release the lady's identity after it’s confirmed and her next of kin is notified, Hernandez said.

The death was the twenty second homicide in the town in 2024. At the identical time last 12 months, San Jose police had investigated 24 homicides.
