Poll: Green candidate Jill Stein from Lexington leads Muslim voters in key swing states

Jill Stein, Green Party presidential candidate and Lexington resident, is finding some traction amongst Muslim voters in key swing states, based on a brand new report.

According to polls by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Stein is ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump amongst Muslim voters in Arizona, Michigan and Wisconsin. She is supported by 35 percent of Muslim voters in Arizona, 40 percent in Michigan and 44 percent in Wisconsin.

Harris leads amongst Muslim voters in Georgia and Pennsylvania, with 43% and 37%, respectively. In Nevada, Trump leads in support amongst Muslim voters, with 27%, based on the report.

Overall, most Muslim voters seem like evenly split between Harris and Stein. The poll found that 29.4 percent of Muslim voters support Harris, while 29.1 percent support Stein. Trump received 11.2 percent, and 16.5 percent said they were undecided.

By gender, Harris leads with 29% amongst male Muslim voters. Stein leads with 34% amongst female Muslim voters.

“Candidates running for office cannot afford to overlook the issues that matter most to Muslim Americans. Ignoring this community or taking their voices for granted could be a costly mistake, especially in swing states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada and Wisconsin, where elections are often won by narrow majorities. It's time for candidates at all levels of government to invest more time and resources into understanding the concerns of Muslim voters,” said Robert McCaw, director of presidency affairs at CAIR, in a press release.

While the Israeli military continues to ravage Gaza with powerful ammunition Stein, who was dropped off in humanitarian zones, is a vocal advocate of Palestinian rights and a fierce critic of continued American arms sales to Israel.

During the talk between Harris and Trump on Tuesday, Stein criticized each candidates on various issues on social media. On the problem of Gaza, Stein accused the Biden-Harris administration of enabling Israel to commit war crimes.

When asked throughout the debate in regards to the war in Gaza, Harris said While Israel has the precise to defend itself, the variety of innocent lives lost in Gaza is unacceptable. She called for a right away end to the war through a ceasefire that may include the discharge of the remaining Israeli hostages and urged a two-state solution through which Israelis and Palestinians have equal access to security and stability.

Stein said Harris was being dishonest.

Stone publicly argued with one other outstanding Democrat. During a video on Instagram, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized Stein for running hopeless presidential campaigns over time without making an effort to extend the Green Party's visibility by gaining votes. Ocasio-Cortez called Stein's actions “predatory.” Stein responded that Democrats were “afraid” because voters didn’t need to support genocide.
