Airbus announced on Wednesday that it has delivered its first ultra-long-range narrow-body aircraft, the A321XLR. This marks one other step in an era of smaller and more fuel-efficient jets that fly longer distances, further widening the delivery gap between Airbus and its rival Boeing.
The first aircraft was delivered to Spain's Iberia, which plans to launch it for the primary time between Madrid and Boston next month. American Airlines And United Airlines I also ordered the 321XLRs.

The aircraft manufacturer has been working on certification of the aircraft for five years. According to the manufacturer, it uses around 30% less fuel than older aircraft.
The European company has ordered greater than 500 A321XLRs. That's only a small portion of the backlog, which stood at nearly 8,600 planes at the top of June, but the corporate is unveiling a brand new plane as its rival Boeing struggles.

The company now plans to downsize, cut jobs and possibly eliminate stores it doesn't consider necessary to get monetary savings and improve quality.
“Boeing is an aircraft company, and at the right time in the future we need to develop a new aircraft, but we still have a lot of work to do before that happens,” latest CEO Kelly Ortberg said on an earnings call last week.
