Elon Musk PAC offers money for swing state voter information

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who’s supporting Donald Trump within the presidential election, announced on Sunday a $47 referral bonus that the billionaire's political motion committee is offering people for each registered swing state voter they refer online petition this requires signers to offer personal contact information.

“For every person you refer who is a swing state voter, you will receive $47!” Musk wrote in a post on X, the social media site he owns. “Easy money.” If Trump is elected, he could be the forty seventh President of the USA

The petition states that its signatories support “First and Second Amendment rights,” but it surely doesn’t provide details about who and when the petition might be delivered, nor any of the signatories' demands, all core elements of traditional petitions.

Instead, the petition seeks the private contact information of swing state voters. Once signed, all users, no matter their state, might be directed to a page containing voter registration links for just seven states: Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Musk's America PAC said its goal is “to get one million registered voters in swing states to support the Constitution, particularly freedom of speech and the right to bear arms.”

“This program is open exclusively to registered voters in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina,” the PAC said. These states are expected to be the probably to carry the lead within the election race between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee.

The petition isn’t America PAC's first try and collect helpful contact information for swing state voters online. But it’s the primary effort to incorporate a suggestion of cash to individuals who will help the PAC find registered voters.

Earlier this yr, America PAC was briefly investigated by the North Carolina Attorney General's Office and the Michigan Secretary of State's Office after CNBC revealed that the PAC was collecting personal contact information from swing state voters under the false pretense of helping them register selection to assist.

In response to the requests, the PAC told state officials that it could fix several dead-end links on its website.

Musk says he’s the founding father of the America PAC, which did this Receive donations of individuals connected to him. But a federal disclosure report from July showed no direct donations from Musk as of late June. The billionaire has reportedly made contributions to the PAC since then, but the subsequent reports aren't due until mid-November.

CNBC has reached out to Musk's reps for comment on the petition.

“This is no ordinary election,” Musk told rally participants on Saturday. “President Trump must win
to preserve the constitution. He must win to preserve democracy in America.”

The petition link asks respondents if someone referred them to the location after which asks for that person's email address or mobile phone number.

It was unclear Monday how the PAC would actually make the promised payments.
