Philip Tomasino scores a goal within the third period, the Penguins beat the Bruins 2-1

BOSTON (AP) — Philip Tomasino scored the game-winning goal within the third period, Tristan Jarry made 31 saves and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Boston Bruins 2-1 on Friday night.

Tomasino's first goal of the season got here with 12:34 remaining when the forward got here from the left circle after the Bruins didn’t clear the puck. Pittsburgh's Rickard Rakell scored his ninth goal of the season with lower than a second left within the second period.

Charlie Coyle scored and Jeremy Swayman made 34 saves for Boston.

Coyle scored 1:24 into the sport, benefiting from a breakdown within the Pittsburgh zone for his fifth goal of the season. The Bruins needed eight-tenths of a second to take care of a 1-0 lead early within the third period, but Rakell scored behind the Boston net off a pass from Sidney Crosby to tie the sport.

Penguins: Playing in his second game with a Pittsburgh team that has now won two straight, Tomasino had six shots on goal. The 23-year-old was traded by Nashville earlier this week.

Bruins: Boston went 0 for 3 on the facility play.

With eight minutes left and the Penguins up by one goal, Pittsburgh defenseman Kris Letang saved a goal while Coyle stared at an empty net.

Crosby now has 15 assists and eight goals in 25 games. The Pittsburgh star and Wayne Gretzky have essentially the most points per game in NHL history with 19 each.

Penguins: Return home to face Calgary on Saturday night.

Bruins: Host Montreal on Sunday.
