Soccer players Kristie Mewis and Sam Kerr announced on social media Monday that they predict a baby.

The announcement comes after Mewis and Kerr announced their engagement an exclusive with magazine last yr.

Mewis, a Boston College graduate and Hanson native, announced her pregnancy in an Instagram post with the caption, “Mewis-Kerr baby coming in 2025!” She currently plays for West Ham United within the Women's Super League and has remodeled 50 appearances for the US national team.

Kerr, an Australian striker for Chelsea, also shared the post together with her followers.

The two received homophobic backlash within the comments section of the post.

At a press conference, Sonia Bompastor, manager of the Chelsea women's team, described the comments as “unacceptable”.

“It’s just crazy to me to understand how people can react like that,” Bompastor said. based on AP.

Chelsea captain Millie Bright said she was “really happy for both of them”.

“That’s what we all came to earth for: to bring joy to one another.” Bright told the AP. “We don’t have time for specific comments.”
