Disneyland unveils latest attic bride from 'Haunted Mansion' who doesn't think concerning the ax or murder – The Mercury News

The Black Widow Bride at Disneyland's Haunted Mansion, who had a dark habit of beheading her husbands, has traded in her ax for a brand new backstory that tones down her murderous tendencies and makes her a sadder and more lovesick character.

Walt Disney Imagineering will introduce a brand new ghost bride using projection technology within the attic of the Haunted Mansion today, January 18, because the classic dark ride returns after shedding its annual holiday overlay.

Haunted Mansion riders will hear the sounds of their beating hearts and see the ghostly flames flickering on the candelabra as they walk through the attic scene.

The latest storyline transforms the Attic Bride from an ax murderer who beheads her wealthy husbands for his or her fortune right into a brooding bride who mourns the lack of her husbands and is full of the overwhelming fear of lost love.

Kim Irvine, Imagineering's creative director, told Disney Imagineers that the sad, lovesick and grieving look on the brand new bride's face is much more apparent Los Angeles Times.

“We thought, what if we changed the story a little bit back to the Imagineers' original story about a lost bride in the attic grieving the loss of her husband,” Irvine told the Times. “It was a sad thing. It was a story about lost love.”

Haunted Mansion's latest attic bride shall be surrounded by portraits of previous grooms, who will regularly disappear – leaving the explanations for her departure more to the imagination than to her murderous intentions.

The Black Widow's aged bride, referred to as Constance Hatchway, appeared in wedding portraits with a series of husbands who lost their heads within the haunted house attic scene.
