I began practicing psychotherapy in the course of the Reagan administration. It was 30 years before concern about politics became a clinical problem for one in every of my clients.

What I call a political emergency is a bipartisan mental health issue. It is predicated on the idea that terrible things could occur since the country is within the hands of bad leaders. A fundamental tool of cognitive therapy for anxiety is the query: “What's the worst? “This could plausibly happen?” The purpose of this query will not be to get anxious people to take into consideration worst-case scenarios – they already do – but to advance their thought process and get an image of how they may survive their worst fear. Democrats consider Donald Trump's second administration will hurt people.
