Lebanon and Hezbollah have criticized continued Israeli attacks and overflights across the country, withdrawing from only two of dozens of Lebanese villages it controls. Israel says the Lebanese military has did not do its part in dismantling Hezbollah's infrastructure.
Hezbollah's current leader, Naim Kassem, warned in a televised address on Saturday that its fighters could attack Israel if its troops don’t leave the south by the tip of the month.
Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz expressed similar views should Hezbollah fighters not advance north of the Litani River and their infrastructure remain intact.
“If this condition is not met, there will be no agreement and Israel will be forced to act alone to ensure the safe return of residents of (Israel's) north to their homes,” he said.
Safa said Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, who negotiated the ceasefire cope with Washington, told Hezbollah that the federal government would soon meet with U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein. “And given what is happening, there will be a position,” Safa said.
Hochstein had led the shuttle diplomacy effort to attain the delicate ceasefire.
