On January 16, 1989, three days of unrest began in Miami when a police officer fatally shot Clement Lloyd, a black motorcyclist, leading to a crash that also killed Lloyd's passenger, Allan Blanchard. (The officer, William Lozano, was convicted of manslaughter but acquitted at a retrial.)
