If standout wide receiver DK Metcalf enters trade talks this offseason, don't expect New England to be among the many destinations he hopes to land.
With certainly one of the Patriots' biggest needs of the offseason being a No. 1 receiver, Metcalf's name has surfaced Hypothetical trading scenarios For receiver needs, some fans in New England naturally had Metcalf at the highest of their offseason wish lists.
However, the identical feelings usually are not reciprocated by the Seahawks wideout. Keep talking “The Casuals” Podcast with Katie NolanNolan asked Metcalf if he would ever consider living in Massachusetts, seemingly attempting to gauge Metcalf's interest within the Patriots in an informal way.
Metcalf quickly shot off a “no” before adding that it had nothing to do with the Patriots themselves.
“It’s not a desirable location in my opinion,” Metcalf said. “Great organization.”
Metcalf clearly wouldn't be thrilled to be dealt to New England this offseason.
Still, New England's ability to tackle CAP hits, together with its desirable draft picks in 2025, would make it a major contender to make a trade for a big-name receiver like Metcalf from a front office perspective.
There are still two fundamental names the Patriots could consider in a trade if made available: AJ Brown and Tyreek Hill.
Brown has ties to Mike Vrabel from their time together at Tennessee. Along with that, Brown also grew up a Patriots fan cried as New England passed him on Selected within the draft as a substitute was N'Keal Harry. Brown has also expressed frustrations together with his role within the Eagles' offense and will request a trade within the offseason if he stays unhappy.
However, Philadelphia remains to be in contention for the Super Bowl, and winning a championship might be enough to smooth things over with Brown and the Eagles this offseason. But if he wants it, the Patriots could be a compelling place with mutual interest.
Hill doesn't have much ties to the Patriots, but was mentioned by an anonymous executive by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler as a player New England could attempt to lure to Foxborough via trade. Hill expressed his frustrations with the Dolphins after their disappointing season got here to an end, seemingly indicating he would really like to be traded.
The receivers will little question be near offseason talks regarding New England, although Metcalf has calmed the rumors linking him to the Patriots organization.
