Brentwood Awards contract for the Kickstart of the sports complex project

Brentwood – the Sand Creek Sports Complex Project Make a very important step forward after the Brentwood city council recently concluded a contract for the long -awaited development.

With a unanimous vote on March 11, the Robert A. Bothman Construction selected for the primary phase of the project, which can cost around 20 million US dollars. The company was the bottom of nine offers that the town received.

Aaron Wanden, maintenance manager of Parks, said the project was divided into two phases. The first will include three multi-use-use artificial grass sports fields for sports similar to football and lacrosse, group picnic areas with trees as shadows, a food truck location, parking spaces, training equipment and a playground.

The financing of the project varies.

The treasurer Kerry Breen said around 10.2 million dollars got here from the consequences on the Parks and Trails Development. Around 8 million US dollars come from the final fund, of which 6.9 million US dollars come from funds from the American Rescue Plan Act. And 1.2 million US dollars come from the sale of the Brentwood Technology Center. Other sources are savings for bonds and capital infrastructure.

“I've been here for over 20 years and have been waiting for it for a long time. I know that our community asked for a long time. Thank you for all the work you put in this way,” said Council member Jovita Mendoza. “I am so excited as a resident.”

The city expects the primary phase of the project to be accomplished in a 14.5 hectare property within the spring of 2027.

The discussions a couple of sports complex began in early 2000. In November 2022, the town council approved Verde Design Inc. to plan and design the project on Sand Creek Road and Fairview Avenue.

In 2023, Verde costs design that the complete 30 hectare sports complex would cost around $ 31 million for construction, which can be doubled by the approved costs of $ 15 million.

The overall concept plan was approved in April 2023 by the Brentwood Park and Recreation Commission. In the next month, the town council included the project to its Capital IMPROVEMENT program with a budget of 19.2 million US dollars, which is meant for the primary phase.

The next phase of the project is positioned on a 19.24 hectare package within the Contra Costa County Flut Control Haftzeit, and it could contain the addition of two football fields.
