Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Secretary for Health and Human Services, announced comprehensive cuts to his department on Thursday, probably the most recent step of the Trump management with a view to dramatically reduce the dimensions of the workforce and responsibilities of the federal government.
According to an announcement by HHS, Kennedy plans 10,000 employees. In combination with other departures from Buyouts, the reduction within the agency will employ 62,000 employees of 82,000.
Kennedy also intends to rationalize the department by consolidating its 28 divisions in 15 divisions and doing regional offices from 10 to 5.
The department will create a brand new administration for a healthy America department. According to HHS, the changes will reduce the prices of 1.8 billion US dollars a yr.
“We have reorganized the organization with its core mission and our new priorities in the reversal of the epidemic of chronic diseases,” said Kennedy in a proof. “This department will do more – much more – at lower costs for the taxpayer.”
The Wall Street Journal reported Kennedy's plans for the primary time.
Kennedy, a distinguished vaccine skeptic with unorthodox views on many questions of public health, has sworn to form the department and the Federal Government's guidelines, under what he described as an agenda for Make America Healthy Noge Health.
In his role, he has control over agencies reminiscent of the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for the Control and Prevention of Diseases and offers him the approval of recent medication, vaccine recommendations and guidance for public health. HHS accounts for a couple of quarter of the federal budget through its control over federal insurance programs for older and low -income Americans.
The steps are prone to be carried out by Democrats and Lawyers for Public Health, that are already concerning the scope of the Trump government's federal cuts, that are led by the billionaire consultant Elon Musk Department of Government Efficiency.
Critics have warned that cuts in federal health programs influence risks for food safety, the event of vaccines and the approval of medical treatments.
