The United States doesn’t recognize Taiwan as a rustic, but is the strongest supporter and the biggest arms provider.
However, the continued support of the USA appears under the Trump administration increasingly fragile, who claimed that Taiwan is just too depending on the USA and has to spend more for defense. A Pentagon candidate at the start of this week said Taiwan should spend about 10% of his gross domestic product for defense to forestall war with China.
Taiwans Lai last month pledged To increase defense expenditure to over 3% of its gross domestic product of lower than 2.5%.
