The Bay Area Shipping Technology Company Flexport claims in a lawsuit that a former manager and a former director stolen the business secrets before the beginning of a competing company called Freightmate.
“Freightmate is a product of theft, not of ingenuity”, the lawsuit was submitted on Wednesday before the US district court of San Francisco.
The former director of Flexport, Bryan Lacaillade and former manager of the San Francisco company Yingwei “Jason” Zhao, built Frachtmate “about information and documents that had brazenly stole it from Flexport,” the lawsuit said.
Neither Lacaillade nor Zhao might be reached for a comment on Friday.
Zhao got here to Flexport in June 2021, and Lacaillade got here on board just a few months later, the lawsuit said. Lacillade left the corporate in April last 12 months and Zhao left two months later.
But three months before the 2 man flexport ended, they registered the domain name for the web site of Freightmate, Frytsmate.ai, the lawsuit was claimed.
“Months before departure, Zhao and Lacaillade confused to found a competing company in Stealth mode,” said the lawsuit. “Lacillade left Flexport first to start the company's business, while Zhao remained as a secret agent.”
Flexport said within the lawsuit that it was founded greater than 10 years ago to “revolutionize global logistics with technologies of the 21st century”.
Freightmate in Bellevue, Washington, tops a product called Docmate on his website to automate the handling of shipping documents.
“Docmate is just the beginning,” said the corporate on the web site. “We create more AI-operated automation to eliminate inefficiencies and bring our vision of zero touch programs to life.”
Lacillade, CEO of Freightmate, “spent his career products for career -logistics technologies like Amazon, Flexport and Geodis,” said the web site, and he likes to hike through the Pacific northwest, Hawaiian shirts on Fridays and to handle with a superb classic novel or a stoic philosophy book.
The Chief Operating Officer from Freightmate, ZHAO, is advertised as a “expert for the introduction and scaling of logistics technology products at companies such as Amazon and Flexport”. According to the “Is Zhao” website, it enjoys visiting NBA games, tapering together with his each day nap and digging for mussels within the state of Washington. “
He also dug proprietary data for flexports, claimed Flexport in the lawsuit.
After lacillade left the company, Zhao spiced up “tens of hundreds of sensitive industrial documents with Flexport's business secrets”, the lawsuit claimed. “Zhao has downloaded a whole bunch, sometimes hundreds of files a day on personal USB drives or cloud stores and used techniques to cover its traces.”
A few days before he left Flexport, but after he and Lacaillade founded Freightmate, Zhao invited with an important sentence of flexports protected by copyright and dismissed it.
“Within just a few weeks, Freightmate began a competing product,” said the lawsuit.
The Freightmate grievance accuses Lacaillade and Zhao for embezzlement and copyright infringement. The company doesn’t apply for damage and a court decision that forestalls the 2 men from using allegedly stolen business secrets or to reveal them or to violate the copyrights of the Freightmate.
