Morning sports update
Tyler O'Neill kept the Homerun series running.
The 29 -year -old O'Neill signed within the low season after the 2024 season in Boston with the Orioles. The common denominator for the Canadian outfield was his scary ability through the years to satisfy Homeruns on the primary day of the brand new season. He did this again on Thursday and prolonged the series to a record of six consecutive opening days.
“Just don't make too much of it”, O'Neill said After Baltimores 12: 2 victory on Thursday. “Just try to go out, you have a good first bat, see what the game gives me from there. Obviously I understand what's going on, but not as if I are trying to go there and do something crazy.”
Of course, what he achieved was absolutely crazy because he’s now in a category itself. O'Neill broke the previous record (4) when he scored for the Red Sox in a 6: 4 victory against the Mariners in the primary game in 2024.
Previously, he was connected to Todd Hundley (1994-97), Gary Carter (1977-80) and Yogi Berra (1955-58) for 4 direct Homeruns at seasonal opening.
Now he’s the just one who achieves such a performance.
“I mean, it's fun, isn't it? It's a good time and it's a funny series, but I don't really think about it too much anyway,” said O'Neill. “I already had the record last year, so today was only a small cherry at the top.”
