A sightseeing helicopter fell into the Hudson River before Manhattan on Thursday and killed all six people on board. It was the deadliest helicopter accident in New York City for years.
Agustin Escobar, the CEO of Rail Infrastructure at Siemens Mobility, his wife and three children, all from Europe, and the helicopter's pilot died throughout the crash.
“We are deeply sad about the tragic helicopter accident, in which Agustin Escobar and his family lost their lives,” said Siemens in an evidence.
Four of the victims were declared dead on the crime scene and two more died after they were faraway from the scene.
The reason for the crash is examined, officials said. The helicopter was operated by “New York helicopter”, Jessica Tisch Jessica Table said a press conference on Thursday afternoon.
The New York helicopter helicopter -Hubraubauer -Hubraubauer didn’t immediately answer the request for comments. The company offers sightseeing tours and, in response to its website, had planned one for 3 p.m.
The video of a witness showed a helicopter that fell to the river. Others published on social media showed a helicopter on the pinnacle within the Hudson River. An eyewitness said NBC New York that she had lost the helicopter a propeller and that the aircraft's nose showed down.
According to Flighttadar24, the helicopter was a Bell 206l-4 long-granger.
The flight path showed that the helicopter began from a helicopter land on the southeastern tip of Manhattan, then flew up the Hudson River, as much as a height of about 1,100 feet and turned near George Washington Bridge, with the last contact of Hoboken, New Jersey, about quarter-hour after the Tayoff, FLIGHRADAR24 data.
The helicopter's flight records show that up to now few days he’ll bring the helicopter several times and produce it out of the helicopter several times. Such routes are common on sightseeing helicopter tours.
The National Transportation Safety Board said that it could examine the crash and still collect information. The Federal Aviation Administration didn’t comment immediately.
“Due to a helicopter accident in the Hudson River near the West Side Highway and the Spring Street, emergency vehicles and traffic delays await you in the surrounding areas,” said the NYPD in a single position on X.
Over the years there have been several helicopter crashes in Manhattan. In March 2018, a helicopter set for a photograph shoot within the East River fell and killed five people on board, although the pilot survived.
In June 2019, a helicopter that flew in heavy fog fell into an office constructing in Manhattan and killed the pilot.
