Washington (AP) – The country's highest health authority will perform a “massive test and research effort” to find out the cause of autismSecretary for health and human services Robert F. Kennedy Jr.. announced on Thursday.
Kennedy, an extended -time vaccine critic who has promoted discredited theory that routine childhood images cause developmental disabilities, said that the efforts were accomplished by September and involved a whole lot of scientists. He shared the plans with the president Donald Trump During a television Cabinet session.

“There has to be something artificial that does it,” said Trump to Kennedy. “If you can find this answer, where you stop taking something, eat something, or maybe it's a shot. But something causes something.”
Autism is A developmental disability brought on by differences within the brain. It shows a wide selection of symptoms that may include delays in language, learning in addition to social or emotional skills.
There is a scientific consensus that vaccines don’t cause autism in childhood. Leading autism interest groups, including Autism speaksagree.
Studies, including studies by twins, show that genes play a serious role. Not a single environmental factor was considered the guilty. The national health institutes, which already spend greater than 300 million US dollars for researching autism, lists some possible risk aspects, akin to: B. Kennedy has not offered any details about how his study might be different or which researchers might be involved. Leading autism organizations akin to the Autism Society of America weren’t involved in discussions about research, said ASA spokeswoman Kristyn Roth.
Roth said many agree that more research is required to find out what causes autism, but Kennedy's approach has triggered alarms.
“There is a concern that we go backwards and evaluate exposed theories,” said Roth.
Trump and Kennedy have each concerns about Increasing autism diagnosis rates.
Part of this increase is as a consequence of increased awareness and a change within the diagnosis of the incapacity. For many years, the diagnosis has only been given to children with serious problems with communication or conviviality and that with unusual, repetitive behaviors. But about 30 years ago, the term became known for a bunch of milder, related conditions which are referred to as the “autism spectrum disorders”. Milder autism falls are much more common than severity.
With an improved screening and autism services, the diagnosis is increasingly made lately. And there was more awareness and advocacy for black and Hispanic families, which led to a rise in autism that was diagnosed amongst these groups.
Nevertheless, the lawyers against Avaccine, including Kennedy, claim that vaccines are responsible. The theory largely comes from a 1998 article that was later withdrawn.
Since then, scientists have excluded a connection between vaccines and autism and haven’t found any evidence of increased autism rates within the vaccinated individuals in comparison with those that will not be.
