On August 17, 1998, President Bill Clinton testified before a grand jury via closed-circuit television from the White House about his relationship with Monica Lewinsky. He then gave a televised address by which he admitted that his relationship with Lewinsky was “wrong” but denied having previously committed perjury (Clinton was subsequently impeached by the House of Representatives but acquitted within the Senate).
