The Tribute in Light, an annual art installation commemorating the September 11 attacks, was tested on September 5, 2024, ahead of its twenty third anniversary. It consists of 88 vertical searchlights arranged in two columns of sunshine to represent the dual towers of the World Trade Center. They shall be visible from dusk on September 11 to dawn on September 12, 2024, inside a 60-mile radius of Lower Manhattan.

The lighting is provided by the Municipal Art Society of New York. Around 30 technicians, electricians and stagehands work for about ten days to put in the lighting.
