SAN JOSE – An extended-closed Fry's Electronics location in San Jose is on course to turn into a serious technology hub that will create a hub for jobs and technology production, in line with documents filed with city planners.
Super Micro Computer is bringing a plan to San Jose City Hall to develop a brand latest, 333,400-square-foot constructing that might be a part of a technology center at 550 East Brokaw Road in north San Jose.
The 19.7-acre site was once home to a big Fry's Electronics store and warehouse, in addition to the headquarters of the once-iconic but now-defunct consumer electronics retailer.
The iconic Mayan constructing that when housed the Fry's store will remain intact after the brand new constructing is constructed, in line with development plans.
This is the most recent in a series of efforts to seek out latest uses for the various closed Fry's buildings within the Bay Area.
In Fremont, city planners are considering a proposal to modernize and remodel an existing Fry's Electronics store on Osgood Road near the Interstate 680 and Auto Mall Parkway interchange.

The Fremont project would create a modernized constructing able to hosting advanced manufacturing, technology, research or industrial activities.
These proposals raise hopes that these vacant former Fry's locations could find latest use and help create jobs after the patron electronics retailer imposed the closure of all remaining stores in 2021.
In north San Jose, Super Micro is exploring several possible activities within the constructing the technology company plans to construct.
The technology company would really like to provide within the planned three-story constructing, which may also house a storage component.
In February 2024, Super Micro Computer paid $80 million for the 550 East Brokaw property in an all-cash deal, Santa Clara County real estate records show.
The technology company's plans for the old Fry's location at the moment are becoming apparent for the primary time. The timeline for development was not immediately known.
“The scope of work includes construction of the building core and envelope, as well as site improvements such as sidewalks, curbs and gutters, bike racks and street trees,” the Super Micro plan states.
